Your Questions, Answered
A FEW THINGS YOU MAY BE WONDERING
Choosing your wedding photographer is about so much more than loving the photographs.
It’s about finding someone you trust to step into one of the most meaningful days of your life, make you feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, and preserve the moments you’ll want to remember long after the flowers have faded and the champagne has been poured.
Here are a few of the questions I’m asked most often. And if there’s something you’re still wondering, I’m always happy to chat.
-
I’m based in Birmingham, Alabama, and photograph weddings throughout Birmingham, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Vestavia Hills, and all across Alabama.
I also regularly travel throughout the Southeast, including destinations across Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, and beyond.
And if your wedding is somewhere a little farther away, I’d love to come along. I photograph destination weddings throughout the United States and internationally.
Wherever your celebration takes you, I’m there to tell the story of it honestly and beautifully.
-
My approach is documentary at heart, with an editorial and fine-art influence.
I’m drawn to the moments that happen naturally, the way your dad looks at you before walking down the aisle, your grandmother laughing at dinner, the wind catching your veil, or the two of you completely forgetting anyone else is in the room.
I’ll gently guide you when needed, but I never want your wedding day to feel like one long photoshoot. I prefer for the photos to happen organically as the day naturally unfolds.
My goal is for your photographs to feel authentic, timeless, and unmistakably you.
-
Absolutely. As an empath, I have a hidden talent for reading the room.
I believe the most meaningful wedding galleries have a beautiful balance of both.
I’ll give you thoughtful direction when it comes to portraits so you never feel awkward or wonder what to do with your hands, but I’ll also step back and let the real moments unfold.
The result is a gallery filled with intentional portraits alongside the candid, emotional, in-between moments you may not even realize happened.
-
Yes. Film photography is an important part of my approach.
There’s something incredibly special about the way film slows you down and encourages you to photograph with intention. I love its nostalgic quality, organic tones, and timeless feel.
Depending on your collection and wedding plans, your final gallery will include a thoughtful combination of digital and film imagery, giving you the best of both worlds. I believe this provides a thorough storytelling approach to documenting a wedding day in a way that you remember how you felt.
-
For most weddings, I recommend reaching out at least 6 months, sometimes 12–18 months in advance, especially for popular spring and fall dates throughout Birmingham and the Southeast.
That said, if your wedding is coming up sooner, I always encourage you to inquire. Availability varies throughout the year, and I occasionally have dates available closer to the wedding day.
-
Yes of course! And this is one of my favorite parts of the process.
Your photography experience begins long before your wedding day. I’ll work with you and your planner to create a timeline that allows enough breathing room for beautiful photographs without making the day feel rushed.
I’m especially intentional about considering natural light, sunset timing, travel between locations, family portraits, a pre-ceremony break to refresh, and the moments that matter most to you.
The goal is for your timeline to support the experience of your day, not dictate it. No two wedding days are identical, and I want it to be a personal experience for each couple.
-
You certainly don’t have to, but I highly recommend them.
An engagement session gives us a chance to get comfortable together before your wedding day. You’ll learn how I photograph and gently direct you, and I’ll learn how the two of you naturally interact.
More importantly, it gives you photographs of this season of your relationship that aren’t tied to your wedding day.
Think of it as a chance to slow down, spend some intentional time together, and create something beautiful in the process.
-
Please don’t worry. I hear this all the time, and as an introvert I totally understand the feeling.
You don’t need to know how to pose, and you definitely don’t need to be models.
My job is to create an environment where you can relax, interact naturally, and actually enjoy being together. I’ll give you enough direction to feel confident while leaving plenty of room for genuine moments to happen.
By the end of the day, my hope is that you’ve forgotten the camera is even there and that you remember having FUN together!
-
Absolutely.
I love working alongside wedding planners, florists, designers, venues, and other creative vendors.
A great wedding day is a collaborative effort, and I value being part of a team that is invested in creating an intentional experience for you.
I’m happy to collaborate on timelines, lighting, logistics, and all of the little details that help the day flow beautifully!
-
Every wedding is different, so I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all answer.
Some couples want a more intimate collection focused on the ceremony and portraits, while others want the full story documented from getting ready in the morning through the last dance and grand exit.
During our consultation, we’ll talk through your plans, priorities, and the moments you want documented so we can determine how much coverage will tell your story well.
-
Happily, yes.
Destination weddings are such a wonderful opportunity to create something unique because the location becomes part of your story.
Whether you’re planning a coastal celebration, an intimate European wedding, a mountain weekend, or somewhere completely unexpected, I’m always excited to pack my bags and come along.
I photograph destination weddings throughout the United States and internationally.
-
I keep the process as simple as possible for you.
Once we know where your celebration will take place, I’ll create a customized proposal that outlines your photography coverage and associated travel expenses.
I personally handle my travel arrangements so you don’t have to worry about coordinating flights, accommodations, or transportation for me.
Your only job is to choose the destination and enjoy the experience! :)
-
We embrace it.
While I’ll always keep an eye on the forecast and work with your planner to create a thoughtful backup plan, weather doesn’t have to mean compromising your photographs.
Some of my favorite images happen when the weather doesn’t cooperate. The quiet moments under an umbrella, rain on the windows, dramatic skies, or the two of you running through a little bit of rain together can be magical memories.
Your wedding day is happening once.
My job is to document it beautifully as it naturally unfolds, rain or shine.
-
I know how excited you’ll be to relive your day, so I work carefully and intentionally through every image before delivering your final gallery.
Your photographs are individually selected, professionally edited, and thoughtfully curated into a cohesive story of your wedding day.
I aim to have the full gallery delivered within 6 weeks. Sometimes sooner! I always deliver a large sneak peek of 50-100 images typically within 24-48 hours of your wedding day so that you can continue celebrating on your honeymoon!
And yes, you’ll probably find yourself scrolling through your gallery more than once.
-
Once you send an inquiry, I’ll be in touch with more information about availability, collections, and next steps.
From there, we’ll schedule a consultation so we can actually get to know each other.
I want to hear about your wedding, your relationship, what matters most to you, and the experience you want your guests, and yourselves, to have.
If it feels like we’re the right fit, we’ll move forward with your collection, contract, and retainer to officially reserve your date.
My hope is that by the time your wedding day arrives, I don’t feel like just another vendor or stranger. I love to have a personal relationship with my clients and feel this helps me document your most special day much better! Your trust in telling your unique story is not lost on me.
STILL HAVE QUESTIONS?
I’d love to hear from you.
Whether you’re planning an intimate Birmingham wedding, a celebration somewhere along 30A, a destination wedding across the country, or an adventure on the other side of the world, I’d love to hear what you’re dreaming up.
Let’s create something meaningful, intentional, and completely yours.
