The Fine Art of Film Photography

I recently had the pleasure of hosting an educational panel for my daughter’s fine-arts night at our local elementary school! Of course I wanted to be sure I had all the necessary information so that the students would have a tangible experience in this ever so instant gratification filled society we call life. Let me just say, they really had no idea that you don’t just press a button, but in fact you have to think and make a calculated decision each time. Below, you can read all the nerdy photography stuff I have collected over the years of shooting film. Not all photographers are alike, and I find this process to be somewhat second nature after years of practice. Each and every time I receive my film scans, I can confidently say it is worth the wait!

Let’s look at some examples to see how this all comes together…

Here is an example of the negatives and the scanned digital images all from the same session

I Just love how film captures light and i love the fulfillment and satisfaction when film images turn out. Most importantly, I feel that this pushes me to be a better, more intentional photographer for my clients. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have and the trust each of my clients provide. If you have any further questions on how film works, please feel free to email me directly!

Diagrams were referenced from www.photovisionprints.com and all images were photographed by Olivia Jones and then processed and scanned by photovision prints.
